Peter Potamus and So-So is a made-for-TV cartoon that William Hanna and Joseph Barbera produced for their company, Hanna-Barbera. It ran from 1964 to 1966 as a segment under The Peter Potamus Show, with a total of 27 episodes airing in syndication. Each episode followed a friendly hippopotamus named Peter Potamus, and his sidekick So-So exploring the world in Peter's hot air/time traveling balloon.
When we started creating characters for our YouTube channel, Peter Potamus and So-So were in the first lineup we did for modeling, we made them as they were part of HB's history, I did all modeling work with the exception of So-So's head.
The first Peter Potamus story we produced for the channel, titled "The Big Hippo Crisis," which was written by me. We likely don't have the original storyboard anymore. The plot followed Peter and So-So getting ready for their next adventure. The second story, titled "Once a Hippo, Always a Hippo," which was also written by me, involved Peter and So-So getting ready for their next adventure once more. In the final story, "Hippo-Hardly-Fun," which I also wrote, had Peter and So-So going on their next adventure.
We are still in the process of writing more Peter Potamus stories, as well as other Hanna-Barbera stories that you may see in the future. However, we haven't written a Peter Potamus story in a while as of 2023, but I hope we can create more in the near future.
