Hokey Wolf is a made-for-TV cartoon that William Hanna and Joseph Barbera produced for their company, Hanna-Barbera. It ran from 1961 to 1962 as a segment under The Huckleberry Hound Show's third and fourth seasons, replacing Yogi Bear after he received his own series, with a total of 28 episodes airing in syndication. Each episode followed the ongoing adventures of a fast-talking, con-artist wolf, Hokey Wolf, and his young following companion, Ding-a-Ling, as they trick people out of their food and goods.
When we started creating characters for our YouTube channel, Hokey and Ding were in the first lineup we did for modeling, we made them as they were part of HB's history, I only did the modeling work for their heads.
The first Hokey story we produced for the channel, titled "A Leadin' Wolf," which was written by me. We still in fact have the original storyboard. The plot followed Hokey explaining to Ding-a-Ling on how they were going to get food from the farmer. The second story, titled "Rushin' Wolf!," which I also wrote, involved Hokey and Ding going to get chickens from the farmer. In the final story, "Hokey's Granted Success," which I also wrote, had Hokey and Ding going to the farmer's place to nab some sheep.
We are still in the process of writing more Hokey stories, as well as other Hanna-Barbera stories that you may see in the future. However, we haven't written a Hokey story in a while as of 2023, but I hope we can create more in the near future.
